(Junktion) SEVEN opens!

SEVEN is the newest music venue to hit Nottingham. Its also, the previous home to JUNKTION 7.

Junktion 7. A venue, close to the heart of Pure Rawk announced that is was closing last year. It was a very sad day as the venue had a pretty good wealth of history nationally and some very memorable moments were had by us over the years in PR HQ.

However, SEVEN has been reopened in its place. It looks like it has strong promises to be just as great as J7. The new SEVEN owners comment on their website: "Our aim is to make a contribution to Nottingham's wonderful music scene by showcasing the best bands from around the UK & beyond, along with the very best talent our wild and wonderful city has to offer."

The first gig at the new, shiny SEVEN is on Friday 13th February. Playing live is Martyr Defiled. Nottingham's MD celebrate the launch of their debut EP 'Ecophagy' on Thirty Days of Night Records. The gig is free entry.

Go to http://www.sevenlive.co.uk/ for more details and to keep up-to-date with this new and exciting venue.

In a band and want to get the best start in life?

Tourdates.co.uk are very excited to announce a brand new initiative for 2009, the Musicians’ Clinic, allowing upcoming Artists access to music industry leaders.

The clinic will be held monthly at Proud galleries in Camden, North London and will allow upcoming artists a unique opportunity to discuss the challenges they are facing in areas such as label negotiations and legal issues, merchandise strategy, effective PR, working with the press and sales.

In addition they will have the opportunity to have their demos critiqued by Andy Ross, former boss of Food Records,120 consecutive top 100 singles and six UK number one albums with three different artists including Blur. Andy Currently manages Bleech.

Andy Ross is joined by Leonard Lowy a solicitor specialising in the music industry, Mel Brown the MD of Impressive PR, Andy Allen CEO of Backstreet Merchandise and Richard Hodkinson Editorial Director of LondonTourdates magazine.

Leonard Lowy commented "With so much doom and gloom out there at the moment, I can't think of a better time to launch a new initiative like this. For those of us who make our living from this industry, it's great to be able to give something back. Hopefully with our combined expertise we'll be able to help steer people in the right direction."

Jarrod Robinson, CEO of Tourdates, added “Tourdates is delighted to have been asked by Leonard to run the event which will provide our artist community with access to over 100 years of collective know-how.”

Andy Allen, CEO of Backstreet Merchandise, praised the event saying "This is an excellent opportunity for artists to receive some professional advice and possibly avoid costly mistakes."

Mel Brown feels there is a wealth of great bands that really don’t know where to start - they don’t know what PR is or when the best time is to start a PR push or campaign. Getting an experienced PR on board early could make a huge difference to the overall strategy of the bands career.

The first event is on Monday 26th January 2009 with bookings being accepted on a 'first come' - 'first served' basis.

Artists can book online at www.tourdates.co.uk/musicians-clinic

Rollin' Thunder on the hunt for a new drummer - are you the one?

Rollin' Thunder are looking for a new skin pounder after the departure of their former drummer, Ste. Based near Manchester, they're a favourite on the classic metal and glam circuit.

Rollin Thunder are a five piece stadium rock band that formed 4 years ago. Since then they have found themselves sharing the stage with great acts such as vein, Tigertailz and more recently finishing there first UK tour with the band that influenced Metallica, Diamond Head! These guys have been described by many as one of the best bands to come out of the UK since the likes of Black Sabbath and Def lep. With the stage set for them in the future there shows just get bigger everytime as do the crowds. High energy, fist raising, stadium rock anthems that you just cant help but to sing along to.

A statement released by the band is as follows ...

"We would firstly like to say a big sorry to all our fans due to recent issues surrounding the band, and a bigger thanks to all thats kept in contact and for all your concerns. due to issues, we havent been around on myspace much but that will change from now on.

As you may be aware last year we lost our drummer due to personal reasons, and as we head into a new year we're on the prowl for the next great drummer to join us for a journey of rock n roll ... so if you're willing to give blood, sweat and tears and have a high level of commitment then drop us a line via myspace."
